This Weeks Studs County Sheriff's Dept. Crime Report

There was a suspicious package found and reported where the rodeo arena was located last week.  It was originally reported to have sounds of ticking and thought to possibly be a bomb.  After hours of investigation from the police, fire department and the calling in of a bomb squad.....It was finally determined just to be a bunch of Horse Shit!

Fires have been found smoldering along the banks of the river and lake.  They are believed to be campfires.  The river and lake are not zoned for campgrounds and wild grasses and brush have not been cleared for possible fire hazards.   Please do not camp or start fires in these areas.  Those found starting fires are subject to large fines and possible jail time.

A report has been received from Madison County regarding a strange blue algae floating down stream in the river.  If you happen upon any blue algae in Studs County river or lake please report it immediately to the Sheriffs office or Mayor and steer clear of it.

A major explosion took place in Cove Bay county on some private farm land.  After investigation from that county's Sheriff's Dept, it was announced that a gang of criminals had been involved.  So please just as last week, remain vigilante and report any suspicious activity.

And lastly....last week we reported someone attempted to steal  the hardware store's work vehicle.  This week, someone managed to break into one of the county service trucks and take it for a joy ride around the county before finally parking it in the middle of the lake.  Upon returning to the county, Mayor Steve advised that the county service trucks are not amphibious vehicles and should not be used as such!

Brent -- Studs County's New Shining Star

If you've found yourself wandering by the Wanted Saloon on a Wednesday night, then you've prolly heard the fantastic guitar playing of our own local resident, Brent (brentrorikstead).  Brent's playing of such a wide range of great hits from Adele's "Someone Like You" to a medley of some of the Beatle's Greatest Hits are incredible.  

I walked into the saloon in search of a refreshing beer after a hard day of work and found myself transfixed by Brent's amazing guitar playing and variety of playlist.  Three hours and a huge bar tab later, I stumbled out of the saloon and on my way home thoroughly enjoying a wonderful evening.

Although Brent hasn't been a resident of Studs County for long and been performing at the salon for even less, he has definitely started to grow a fan base.  Much like his performance, the spot light, a wood stool and a guitar, Brent likes to keep things simple and low key.

They say that heartache and demons are the creative fuel to an artist's soul.  Perhaps Brent has a little of both of those in his past, but definitely enough to make his performance leaving you yearning to hear one more song.  We may never know what his secret is to briefly captivating our spirit, but I for one am very glad that this future bright star has decided to shine in  our small country neck of the woods instead of the bright streets of Music City.

This Weeks Studs County Sheriff's Department Crime Report

The mysterious disappearance and still missing Ben Benjie.  If you have any information as to Ben's whereabouts, it would be greatly appreciated.

There was an attempt to hijack a vehicle outside the Hank Hill's Hardware Store. Please ensure your car is locked at all times.

There was a report of a horse being led away from outside the saloon one night, Luckily the owner managed to intervene.

If you have to ride into town please be wary specially now with an increase in crimes being reported in the surrounding counties.

The police can not urge you enough to drink responsibly  We have been receiving many incident reports of public intoxication with an increased spike of 20%

We urge all citizens to be vigilant as there has been a number of robberies in the surrounding counties.

If you see or hear anything suspicious please report it immediately to your local Sheriff and Deputies.

The Rodeo Came To Town!!

For the last two weeks, the residents of Studs County and visitors from surrounding towns have been enjoying the festivities of the rodeo.  The wild bucking bronco gave many a cowboy a bruised ego and butt, mine included.  But what a ride!  It was a great rush to sit on that amazing horse and hear the guys in the stands cheer you and as you held on for dear life.

The rodeo staff, Stevethere, Bengo, Doc Mann, and Jonluca Seriman want to thank everyone for making this rodeo such a huge success and an absolute blast.  Look for another one swinging through the county in the near future!!

Sweet Amarillo Studs County Folk Festival Is Coming March 11th

Everyone in Studs County is getting excited for some good ole country music as DJ Raine brings us this years Sweet Amarillo Studs County Folk Festival.  The towns Entertainment Hall will be hopping March 11th at 6pm SLT to the sounds of those old time country tunes and a lot of boot scootin.  There will be a $1000L prize for the Best Shirtless and another $1000L for the Best Bullride. Be sure to grab some friends and make this a great music festival to remember!  Hope to see you there!

Studs County - You Are The Author Of Your Own Life's Story

For all intents and purposes, Stud County is a small country place somewhere in the Midwest United States.  You arrive by bus and find yourself standing in the bus station in front of a sign asking you to create your back story.  See, Studs County is a simple concept of role play in that you create your own character. However, you do that by creating your past; where you came from, where have you been and what ultimately brought you to Studs County.  That part might take a little time but once you have that accomplished, the fun begins.  You find yourself immersed in a small modern day country town with all the amenities and through your story you become a local, adding to the community and its daily needs and commerce.

I talked to Stevethere, the creator/Mayor of Studs County and asked him how the creation and concept of this amazing sim came to be:

Steve:     Oh the concept was an interesting history.

Steve:     When Bowery finished, that was one RP sim where I played, as a firefighter captain, I decided to use this island I already had to build a new RP sim.

Steve:     The original idea was Brooklyn, NY and I started to build.  I built about half the sim and spent a lot of time and money building.

Clinton:  What was the RP going to be behind Brooklyn?

Steve:     The build included a Brooklyn bridge model, a copy of the City hall, several buildings.

Steve:      It was a big city RP, as exist several already in SL.

Steve:     But while I was building, I was thinking, the buildings were so monumental, people would be so far from each other and it would e so difficult to integrate all of it together.

Steve:     And then I had the idea of the small country town, in our modern days, because I am from a small town myself, a country town.

Clinton:   Lol, I am as well.

Steve:     But I had invested a lot in Brooklyn.  Do I continue? And while I continued, the idea of the small town was growing stronger and stronger in my mind.

Steve:     So at a point, I decided to stop, return all of Brooklyn and start it all again from zero, with the small town concept that I had already named Studs County.  And I got very happy when I did that.

Clinton:  So the big city man returned to his small country roots?

Steve:     Exactly.  I thought a RP based on a simple life day by day, where people were honest, friendly and hard working.  Far from violence, drugs and the things that are the theme at big city RPs.

Clinton:  And the same in RL as well.

Steve:     Oh yes, I thought the concept would catalyze good things and people would be naturally happy here.

Clinton:  So you have read almost everyone's submitted back story and of those how many have ran away from a big city to be in the small town?  I know that mine was.

Steve:     Oh, a lot of people wrote running away from big cities.

Clinton:  Yeah, I think a lot of guys just yearn for something more simple, easy going and laid back even in RP.

Steve:     You know, It is also good for administration.  Things can happen without hurry. I can start things one at a time.  So I always have something new to start.

Steve:     Now we started our firefighters RP and they are volunteer

Steve:     People are loving it, almost everyone wanted to join.  People have other jobs and they also volunteer to protect their homes and businesses

Clinton:  I wanted to join the firefighters lovers group ... but that group hasn't started up yet.  

Steve:     Hahaha, that group does not exist, but for sure you can RP to bring a cake to thank them for the service they do for the community or get a child to say he's your nephew that he loves firefighter's trucks ... LOL

Clinton:  Oh, I was thinking about offering help in the shower area etc

Steve:     HAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

Steve:    In the upcoming months we will be working on city council elections .  There will always be a place and job for everyone who wants to be part of Studs County.

Clinton: And who wouldn't want to be?
